Quechee/Gorge

A few miles from Woodstock along route 4 lies the little village of Quechee and then the Quechee Gorge.  And to cross the Ottauquechee there is a lovely covered bridge with a pedestrian walkway on one side.

The building on the right with the huge arched window and restaurant deck is the Simon Pearce Glass blowing works and shop.

This is the calmer waters taken from the far side of the Simon Pearce building.

We drove further along Route 4 to the Gorge, a popular attraction for the views and hiking.
Below is the view from the bridge spanning the gorge.

We made the half mile hike down into the gorge for the view back up.
It was a hot day so the hike back up seemed steeper!

Thanks again for visitng!

  14. Oh my word! These pictures are divine! And to actually see all this in person! The bridge is beautiful, and made with such precision. Both the wild and calm waters are gorgeous, and I love the reflections in the calm water. You actually hiked by that gorge? It looks so wild and dangerous, you must be really fit and athletic!

  20. The picture of the 'calmer waters' is stunning - the reflection in the water, the picturesque buildings - a quintessential, bucolic scene. Thank you!
