Chick Art

You can see the mural from yesterday's post right behind the white chick so we are still in the Artwalk area of Annapolis where there are quite a few larger that life chicks on display.

The chicks are a 'tongue- in- cheek' reference to the dispute in legislation allowing residents to keep up to 6 chickens in their backyard.

The idea to make it part of the Annapolis art scene was idea of local restauranteur and chicken owner, Gavin Buckley. This was back in 2012 and since then several chicks have been retired.

  1. ...what a fun group! I've seen a lot of horses painted up like this, but never chicks. The one standing in the shell is great. Thanks Christine for sharing this great post, I hope that you will come back again.

  10. I love this, very creative indeed. I've seen pelicans done this way. Artists could get sponsored by a business and then get a plain white pelican and be creative in what they paint on it and the business will display at their business. Everyone wins, the business, the artist and the community.
