Five on Friday

In the grounds of Lisburn's Civic centre,  stands The Tree Of Dreams a community art piece commissioned by the Council and designed by Bob Sloan.

The 'leaves' are made of copper and inscribed with the names of local Lisburn residents

I'm linking these with Skywatch Friday HERE

I've been back to the old Mill at Hilden, once Barbour Threads.  I love these old buildings.

Reflection in the Mill Pond - linking with Weekend Reflections HERE

The ivy has taken a hold on this corner of the old mill.

Some way back from the mill is this row of millworkers homes. Nowadays new owners can paint the woodwork in their choice of colour - even Barbie pink!

Thanks for coming by!

  3. Interesting sculpture tree. With the value of copper I hope the leaves don't get vandalized. - Margy

  7. I like the concept in that artwork. However, Barbie pink would not have been my choice for the door. I do like the look of the mill worker flats.

  9. Pretty blues in the skies in the first two photos. And the millworkers' homes have a stylish roofline.

  10. The tree is a fantastic idea, I love it. The old mill buildings I like too. I would like to see them up close. The row houses, that pink door really stands out. That screams for a repaint. :) Nice pics, Christine and have a lovely weekend.

  18. I love the row of old mill workers cottages and also the old mill buiding reflected in the pond. I find old and empty industrial buildings so fascinating, still somehow full of the moise and movement of the people who worked in them:)

  19. The Tree of 'Dreams is beautiful, long may it endure. The detailing on the terraced houses - woodwork, windows and bricks is charming, though it looks like the end one is being gobbled up by greenery!
