Update

A few weeks back we were fortunate enough to find the gate open into the grounds of the fort.
So I took a couple of shots from this angle, from inside the tower below.

Love those Gothic windows!

From the ramparts you can see the spire of St Malachy's Parish church, which I featured last week.

I am going on holiday for the next 3 weeks so please excuse my intermittent visits as and when we have internet.

Good Fences

Let's take a summer's day stroll through Castle Gardens in Lisburn and admire the restored wall garden terraces, fences and gates.

This is the upper terrace with great views over a busy intersection and the hills beyond.

Looking back towards the upper terrace.

Part of the original castle walls.

Quaint

St Malachy's Parish Church in Hillsborough is possibly one of the most photographed churches in county Down thanks to its beautiful setting and tree lined avenues and its striking steeple.

At the entrance to either of the avenues are two of the most quaint little church halls, The Sexton's House and the Parish Rooms. I love the stonework and the red doors.

Moss covered tiled roof of the Parish Hall and in the window you can see the reflection of the Sexton's house with its diamond lead glass windows.

A Visit to Dromore

Located in the heart of county Down is the town of Dromore. Since the major Dublin to Belfast A1 carriageway bypasses the town, it has not seen much economic growth but has become a satellite commuter town.  This is the lovely red brick Market House which now houses the library and some community rooms.

In front of the Market House, the original town stocks have been preserved, but are not in use!

The clock tower has been nicely preserved.

From a different angle, looking across the square and war memorial.

My Little Pony

My youngest daughter always loved the kids' TV show 'My Little Pony' and she loves feeding any ponies we see on our travels.  This one was a comical one, checking us out!

Say 'CHEESE!'

The other little pony was the quiet one and hung back.

A sweet pair

A soft muzzle farewell!

Willy Nilly Skies and Reflections

This week at the lake was just beautiful.

The ducks sunbathing and keeping cool at the same time!

For Fridays floral shot I was playing about in my garden - the daisies are taking over but I like the natural meadow look and makes me feel like there could be fairies flitting about in the sun beams!

This is a fun sculpture in the middle of a roundabout - the Tin Man from The wizard of Oz has found a tin milking cow!

Another but very different man blowing his Royal bugle in Hillsborough for the Royal visitors

White Picket for Cricket

Its time to join Theresa for Good Fences HERE and today I'm sharing a few shots of the white picket fence which surrounds the cricket grounds of Lisburn Cricket Club in Wallace Park.  I never seem to be there when there's a cricket match playing.

It's possibly time for some painting - what a job around such a fence!

Thanks for coming by and enjoy more Good Fences HERE

Have a great day!

The Parson's Nose

Do you like this sign? I do! Its the sign for a local restaurant.

Its been some time since we dined at The Parson's Nose and although the food was good, possibly a bit overpriced.
