Walkabout

Sharing a few recent photos from my morning walkabout when the sun came up and the sky was blue and the frost lingered on the hedges and fields.

This is a typical barn here in Northern Ireland, with an arched roof and corrugated tin sides.

The shadows of the fence and gate show up well.

I don't know if this older barn will survive.  As you can see, there is a newly built home going up behind it and it might well obstruct their view over the valley.

Linking today with Skyatch Friday HERE

And as it becomes available Good Fences HERE

And Tom's Barn Collective HERE

Best wishes

  2. Christine, in your first photo the ivy is amazing growing up the trees! Are the hedges made of hawthorn? I've heard that hedges of hawthorn are used to fence animals.

    1. Yes the hedge is hawthorn & is very, very widely used in this area of County
Down to mark out field boundaries & provide ' fencing' to keep in sheep & cattle.
Ivy is also widespread but is a tree killer, making trees unsteady & liable to crash in a bad storm.
