Shoe Repairs

Found this on the end of a shop in Annapolis, Maryland. Apparently there was a shoe repair store here once upon a time.

Maybe someone can tell me what 'Sternized' means, the word under Boston? Can't find anything on it.

  1. Interesting sign! I wonder if the 'sternized' has something to do with the rubber in the soles. Just an idea.

  3. Perhaps the owner's name was Stern, and he took special care of the shoes he worked on. Shoe repair is now a rare business. Only know of one within 50 miles of home.
