Skies, Critters and Parsley!

Better late than never, some photos of my walk today, after a bout of illness this week.

Cow parsley lines the lane

Cows and their calves enjoy fresh green grass after long winter months indoors.

Thanks for joining me.

Buttercup Meadow & Fences

When I look at this meadow I expect to see little Carrie Ingalls from the TV series of 'Little house on the Prairie', come tumbling down through the grass, in the opening sequence.  Just makes my heart glad see this.

Beach blues

This is the beach at Tyrella, near Newcastle County Down, which we visited last weekend.  A great beach for walking and just enjoying the sea views. I love seeing so much blue!

Old whitewashed cottage right on the edge of the beach.

Long shadows

Below you can see the sand dunes and those are the Mourne Mountains in the distance shrouded in cloud.

Sunset glory through the marram grass.

Hope you enjoyed this beach walk.

Good Fences

Last week I was out walking in the suburbs of Belfast and came across these wood works.

Some great rustic fencing along the paths.

I think this is supposed to be a mole taking a drink! Possibly from the English classic novel 'The Wind in the Willows', I'm not sure but that's what came to mind.

Great views to Malone House and Divis mountain beyond.

Thanks to Tex for hosting Good Fences and to all who visit and leave comments.

Signs around the Forest Park

In yesterday's post I showed some pics of the fort itself.  There is a forest park behind it and a small lake and i spied some signs around it to share in today's post.

The Fort

I have a photo of the front of Hillsborough Fort in my header collage, but for Tuesday's Treasure I thought I'd share some more photos from the older fortifications behind the keep.

In the middle of the wall is a green gate and another gate on the opposite wall.  These used to be opened daily to allow the public free access inside the fort but possibly due to cuts in funding, they are now shut permanently.

Below is a peak through the gate

On each of the four corners are towers which I nicknamed the Rapunzel towers as my daughter and I used to play in them when she was smaller and the fort was open.

The trees are in full bloom.

Below is a closer photo of the entrance to the main fort building, shown in my header
It is a good example of Gothic style

One of the many gargoyles, but I have no information on who he is supposed to be.

I'd love to hear from you!

Saturday Critters

Just this morning whilst out shopping, we came across a special spring rare breeds event for kids at the shopping centre and fell in love with this rare albino wallaby.

Definitely not native to our shores!

The owner let him out for children( and adults!) to pet

He seemed to have a penchant for shoe laces and was very interested in my daughter's pink laces!

Thanks for joining me and to Eileen for hosting.

Five on Friday

The bluebell season is so short, I had to post a few more of my favourite images of them.

The true English bluebell has a drooping head in when full flower with all the flowers on one side of the stem and they also have a very distinctive sweet scent.

Whilst on my bluebell walk I came across this wood nymph in the clearing.  I thought it was sweet that some little girl had made her a crown of dandelions!

Love the colours in this gorgeous sunset

Bluebells and Good Fences

The bluebells have been a joy to behold this week, though not just as plentiful this year.
I have been to a nearby woods to scramble about on a bluebell covered hillside to try and capture their beauty.  A fence bonus included!

Hope you enjoy and I know Debbie at It's All About Purple will enjoy them!
