Welcome to Thursday's Good Fences link up with Tex. Today I'm continuing our tour around Belfast's docklands and shipyard, Harland & Wolff, and the iconic shipbuilding cranes known as Samson and Goliath.
It was behind these very gates, that the plans for Titanic and many other large liners were drawn over a hundred years ago. I love the wrought ironwork of the gates through which the ships' architects would have entered everyday to work.
looking from the inside of the gates across to Goliath the crane...
Further down to the left is Samson, another bright yellow crane, behind more industrial fencing, so this is as close as I could venture.
Can you imagine working everyday in the tiny pod as crane operator? Apparently its a ver scary descent down into it but you would feel like a bird so high up!Another random fact about these awesome cranes is that you could drive a car along the top of the crane.
