Cardinal sighting!

I was looking through some photos of our last vacation in Annapolis,Maryland and came across this cardinal. As far as I know we don't have these birds in Ireland, so this was a first sighting for me. Very exciting!

Thanks to Eileen for being a wonderful host!

  5. We have them here in Toronto and they stay all winter so it is really beautiful to see them against the white snow!

  6. I saw 3 a few years ago, but they were here for moments only, just passing by. People told me that couldn't have been what I saw, but I am certain. They must have been lost. Beautiful birds.

  8. those of us that get them in the states almost take them for granted. when i hear from folks on the west coast or internationally that have never seen them, i realize how truly gorgeous they are. :)

  13. Lovely! There are some hanging out in our backyard right now. (I can't get great shots with this camera from the 2nd floor window, but I took some anywho.)

  17. I'm not sure which makes me smile more--the fact that you live in Ireland or the fact that you were excited to see a cardinal. Since I get to see these red birds every day they're not that interesting to me. Well, except when they team up with blue jays and steal my dog's food. I can, however, sympathize with your excitement at seeing something new. On my recent trip across the US I saw a Magpie for the first time and was delighted. The natives assured me that I was crazy and that Magpie's are an unpleasant nuisance. :)

  22. Some birds have a wide range of and others a small one. We don't have them around us in BC either, at least near our cabin. - Margy
