Sunset on Good Fences

Welcome to the final Good Fences of 2015.  I can't believe how fast this year has gone.  My photos of Good Fences reflect this, as the winter sun dips below the horizon just along the road from home and it sets on another year.  It's been a good year - I started linking to Good Fences back in April and have to thank Theresa most sincerely for hosting and for all who comment - you've been so welcoming and friendly to take time to comment .

Thank you and may you each be blessed in 2016!

A year in review

I can't help but look back over my shoulder at the year that has so quickly vanished into the archives of the past.  This year I really began to think about what I could capture with my camera.  Amateurish I know, but a great learning experience.

I certainly didn't set out with the ambition of creating a photo blog when there are so many who are extremely talented out there.  I just enjoy seeing the world better now.

So here are a few simple images of my corner of the globe through the seasons.

Hope your future in 2016 will be wonderful!

Thank you to all who have joined me on this new adventure.  your encouraging comments bolster me!

Christmas Good Fences

Welcome to a special Christmas edition of Good Fences with Run A-Round Ranch and Tex.

I have been on the look out for some Christmas decorations on gates and fences and have been sorely disappointed as this is the best I could find on my travels.  Pebbled dashed gate pillars with a garland around the top of the pillars.  Easy to miss but festive enough up close.

So I am taking a bit of creative license here and sharing some Christmas in my home, through the stair railings/fence!!! And a view towards the Christmas tree, twinkling in the twilight.

it has been so much fun starting this photography adventure in the past few months and I sincerely thank those who have followed and left such encouraging comments.

Wishing each and everyone a blessed Christmas.

Many thanks to Theresa for hosting Good Fences every Thursday. Check out more on the link below.

Macro Monday

On an old tree stump in my garden, this fungi has appeared and this afternoon the light from the afternoon sun was perfect for capturing their delicate beauty.  Straight from my camera...

I could study them for ages, there just something soft and subtle and beautiful about them...

Away in A Manger

Happy Saturday! This is my Saturday Critters post linking up with Eileen and as its so close to Christmas I thought I'd do a seasonal assortment of animals.  We visited this large garden centre which is very popular at Christmas for families as they have a great Santa's Grotto and also this enclosed stable yard for animals.

The two donkeys I nicknamed Stan and Oliver because of their antics.

There are several cute pygmy goats

But what I really wanted to see was the reindeer, Reuben.  Unfortunately he was kept in a very enclosed pen and was more stubborn than a mule, as he refused to turn around or lift his head :-(

So I'm afraid all I saw was his rear end.  I was quite surprised by how small he was - no wonder Santa  needs 12 reindeer to pull his sleigh!

Thanks to all who visit and comment - much appreciated!

Thank you to Eileen for hosting and hope you visit to see lots more critters!

On the Wire

Linking today with Good Fences and Skywatch Friday.

Come December, and most of the livestock in these colder climes have been brought indoors, apart from the sheep which are more hardy.  So I took advantage of a bright day last week to go for a bike ride along the country lanes.

It was the wool on the barbed wire that snagged my attention for Good Fences.

So glad to have you visit and comment!

Please check out others in these great link ups!

Swans for Saturday Critters

 Getting into the Christmas theme!

Not quite seven swans a-swimming but when I saw this family of swans back in October I had to jump off my bike and use my phone camera to snap them on the canal, so sorry its not the best!

The next two were taken earlier in the week at a different location.

Happy to be linking with Eileen at Saturday's Critters

and Camera-Critters

Do visit and see a wonderful selection of creatures!

Best wishes and thanks!

Harry Ferguson's Fence

I don't know if you will have heard of Harry Ferguson but perhaps you will have heard of his tractor, the Massey Ferguson- apologies now to all who are loyal John Deere owners!!! Harry Ferguson was born and raised only a few miles from my home and the area has several tributes and memorials to his ingenuity and inventiveness as he was also the first Irishman who designed and flew an aeroplane and manufactured other equipment

This is the memorial statue of him across the road from his birthplace.

The pose below of him leaning on the gate and surveying his farmland is spot on as farmers in Ireland seem born to lean over the gate and have a good yarn with any passers-by and even the animals if they'll listen!

Christmas Market Belfast

Getting in the mood for Christmas, after our early evening visit to the annual Belfast Continental Christmas Market
held in front of Belfast City Hall which is illuminated so nicely.

I love the stars!

We soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed tasting foods from Europe mostly sweet treats!

It's a great way to feel festive!

Thanks for coming by!
